Multiple Drug Busts Lead to Arrests in Virginia and Alabama

Three recent drug enforcement operations in Virginia and Alabama led to multiple arrests and seizures of cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, firearms, and over $3,000 in cash. The cases involved separate investigations by county sheriff's offices and drug task forces.

Three separate drug enforcement operations in Virginia and Alabama resulted in multiple arrests and seizures of illegal drugs, firearms, and currency over recent weeks.

In Henry County, Virginia, deputies responded to a call at approximately 5:23 a.m. on June 13 regarding a vehicle parked at a gas pump for an extended period. They found a man asleep in the running vehicle with a handgun in plain view. A subsequent search uncovered approximately $3,235 in U.S. currency, a digital scale, baggies associated with narcotics packaging, multiple baggies containing suspected cocaine, and fifty-two suboxone strips. The suspect, 38-year-old Donavon Andreaus Nibblett, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm.

In Alabama, a months-long investigation by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force culminated on May 13 with a raid at a home in the 2000 block of 25th Street in Birmingham. Assisted by the Jefferson County SWAT team, authorities arrested Dejuan Montez Garrett and seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, marijuana, and isotonitazene. Garrett was charged with trafficking fentanyl, trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking synthetic drugs, and being a certain person forbidden to possess a firearm. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.

Separately, the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in the 4000 block of Highway 71. Authorities discovered a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, illegal scheduled prescription medication, marijuana, and nine firearms. The occupants, Larry Keith Morris and Rachel Minor Morris, were arrested. Larry Morris, who was prohibited from possessing firearms, faces charges including drug trafficking, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being a certain person forbidden to possess firearms. Rachel Morris was charged with drug trafficking, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both are being held in the Shelby County Jail.
