Medivir AB completed an oversubscribed share issue to fund MIV-711 for Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease. MIV-711 is advancing to phase II for osteogenesis imperfecta with FDA orphan drug status. Cash runway extends to 2028 and other pipeline programs are progressing.

Medivir AB has completed an oversubscribed directed share issue to fund development of a new indication for its drug candidate MIV-711 in Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease (LCPD), a rare pediatric condition with no approved pharmacological treatment. The share issue attracted both new and existing institutional investors, underscoring strong market confidence in the company’s strategy.

Following the transaction, Medivir reports a total of 626,487,237 shares outstanding, comprising 624,037,074 ordinary shares and 2,450,163 class C shares, corresponding to 624,282,090.3 votes. The capital raised is primarily earmarked for the LCPD indication, potentially enhancing the firm’s position in niche, high‑value orphan indications.

Separately, MIV-711 is advancing into a phase II trial for osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) after receiving U.S. Food and Drug Administration orphan drug designation. The new funding supports a cash runway that extends into 2028.

Medivir’s lead liver cancer candidate, fostrox, remains on track in its study. A partnered program, VBX-1000, has shown promising results in animal health.

Medivir AB is a Stockholm-listed pharmaceutical company specializing in innovative therapies for diseases with high unmet medical need. Its lead programs include fostrox, a precision chemotherapy targeting liver cancer, and MIV-711, a cathepsin K inhibitor developed for osteogenesis imperfecta and Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease.
