Effects of a 10-Week Zumba Program in Adults With Hypertension
NCT07735468 · Status: COMPLETED · Phase: NA · Type: INTERVENTIONAL · Enrollment: 46
Last updated 2026-07-30
Summary
This study aims to evaluate the effects of a 10-week Zumba-based exercise program performed three times per week on blood pressure in adults with hypertension. In addition to the primary outcome of blood pressure, secondary outcomes including medication control, body composition (body weight, body fat percentage, and muscle mass), and psychological outcomes (anxiety, depression, quality of life, emotional well-being, and sleep quality) will be assessed.
Participants will be assigned to either an intervention group, performing the Zumba program, or a control group maintaining their usual lifestyle. Measurements will be conducted at baseline and after the intervention period to determine the effectiveness of the program.

Zumba fitness programme
Aquí tienes la descripción para el campo de intervención en ClinicalTrials.gov: A 10-week supervised Zumba Fitness programme consisting of three 50-minute sessions per week on non-consecutive days. Each session was structured in three phases: a warm-up (7 minutes), a main part (36 minutes) based on choreographed Latin dance rhythms (merengue, salsa, reggaeton, cumbia, bachata, among others) following a wave-like intensity pattern, and a cool-down (7 minutes). Sessions were led by a certified Zumba Instructor Network (ZIN) instructor with more than 10 years of experience. Internal load was self-regulated by participants using the Borg CR-10 scale, targeting moderate-to-hard effort levels (RPE 4-6). The control group maintained their usual sedentary lifestyle without participating in any structured exercise programme during the intervention period.
