Silo Pharma Secures European Patent Grant and Japan Allowance for SPC-15 PTSD Candidate

Silo Pharma received a European patent grant and a Japan patent allowance for SPC-15, its intranasal PTSD prevention candidate. The patents cover methods using serotonin 4 receptor agonists to prevent stress-induced psychiatric disorders.

Silo Pharma (Nasdaq: SILO), a developmental-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced that the European Patent Office (EPO) has granted patent EP3952852 for its lead candidate, SPC-15, an intranasal treatment designed to prevent stress-induced psychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) before symptoms develop. The company also announced that the Japan Patent Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for a patent application covering SPC-15, titled “Compositions and Methods for the Prevention of Stress-Induced Fear, Depression-Like Behavior, and Anxiety-Like Behavior,” which includes composition and method claims.

The European patent, which Silo exclusively licensed from Columbia University, covers methods of using serotonin 4 receptor agonists to prevent depressive-like behaviors related to extreme stress exposure. The patent enhances Silo's intellectual property portfolio and complements other global patent protections for SPC-15. The CEO highlighted the significance of this preventative approach, noting that it could revolutionize how at-risk individuals are protected from developing PTSD and related disorders.

The Japan allowance expands Silo’s intellectual property portfolio in stress-modulating therapeutics within a key international market, with management noting the allowance supports protection of the Company’s core scientific innovations ahead of formal patent grant.
