Silo Pharma receives Japan patent allowance for PTSD asset SPC-15

Silo Pharma said the Japan Patent Office issued a Notice of Allowance for a patent application covering SPC-15, its intranasal PTSD therapeutic. The allowed application covers composition and method claims, with formal patent grant expected to follow.

Silo Pharma said the Japan Patent Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for a patent application covering SPC-15, its lead asset and a novel intranasal therapeutic targeting Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The allowed application, titled “Compositions and Methods for the Prevention of Stress-Induced Fear, Depression-Like Behavior, and Anxiety-Like Behavior,” covers both composition and method claims related to therapeutic approaches for preventing or mitigating stress-related behavioral responses.

A Notice of Allowance indicates that the patent office has completed its examination and determined that the application meets patentability requirements, with formal patent grant expected to follow. The company said the allowance strengthens protection for its lead asset, bolsters its intellectual property portfolio and expands its international patent estate in a key pharmaceutical jurisdiction.

Silo describes SPC-15 as a novel intranasal formulation being developed for PTSD. The company is a developmental-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel formulations and drug delivery systems for traditional therapeutics and psychedelic treatments.

In a recent update on SPC-15, the company said it had entered into a non-binding Letter of Intent with Allucent to conduct two Phase 1 clinical trials: an Open-Label, Single Ascending Dose study and an Open-Label, Multiple Ascending Dose study in healthy subjects. The company has also said it received an extension from Nasdaq to regain compliance with the minimum bid price requirement for its common stock, giving it until June 22, 2026 to meet the requirement of maintaining a minimum bid price of $1.00 per share.
