Alnylam Pharmaceuticals has entered a $1.23 billion discovery collaboration with Tenaya Therapeutics to identify up to 15 novel genetic targets for heart disease. Under the agreement, Alnylam will pay $10 million upfront and up to $1.13 billion in milestone payments tied to the development of disease-modifying therapies.

Tenaya is responsible for identifying and validating targets through in vitro and in vivo methods over two years, with Alnylam reimbursing its costs. Tenaya faces potential reductions of $500,000 per non-compliant candidate if targets fail to meet Alnylam’s standards.

The deal expands Alnylam’s cardiovascular therapeutics efforts, where it already has Amvuttra (vutrisiran) and Leqvio (inclisiran). The article said analysts project Amvuttra to generate $7.8 billion in revenue by 2031, while Leqvio is forecasted to contribute $3.9 billion.

The collaboration comes as Alnylam advances late-stage trials for vutrisiran in ATTR-CM (Phase III HELIOS-B) and zilebesiran for hypertension (Phase III ZENITH). On March 6, 2026, Alnylam closed with a 0.05% gain, and the stock traded with a volume of $0.32 billion, ranking 426th in market activity for the day.
