Summary

This study was designed to evaluate the effect of chair-supported yoga on sleep quality and pain levels in individuals aged 65 and over living in nursing homes. Today, with the increase in the elderly population, sleep disorders and musculoskeletal pain negatively affect the quality of life of elderly individuals. In addition to drug treatments, the application of non-pharmacological methods offers side-effect-free and low-cost alternatives. Accordingly, chair-supported yoga is a type of exercise that is suitable for the physical capacity of elderly individuals, safe, and accessible. The study will be conducted as a randomized controlled trial; the intervention group will undergo chair-supported yoga sessions twice a week for 8 weeks, each lasting 30-40 minutes. The control group will receive no intervention other than routine care. Data will be collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) and analyzed using statistical software. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the widespread use of evidence-based non-pharmacological methods to improve sleep quality and reduce pain in elderly individuals living in nursing homes.

Chair-Supported Yoga

Oct Oct Oct Oct 200 chair supported yoga practice training videos, 200 hours Basic Yoga Training (Annex-6) and 250 hours Yoga Therapy Instructor Training (Annex-7, Annex-8, ANNEX-9) will be prepared by Kubra Kargin (Oymaaçlio) until there are national and international certified training documents and they will be made available to the participants by the project researchers. The chair-supported yoga movements to be applied in this context are structured in accordance with the principles of posture, breath control, joint range of motion and safe mobility in elderly individuals. In addition to routine nursing home care, individuals in the intervention group will be given chair-assisted yoga practice twice a week for 8 weeks, each session for 30-40 minutes. Oct. In order to ensure the safety of the application, the movements included in the program will be modified according to individuals' physical capacity and tolerance level. Two separate training videos have been prepared for use in
