Scheduled Utility Outages at Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building

The Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building at UTSA will experience three planned utility outages: a steam outage on Feb. 19, a water outage on May 23, and a multi-day steam outage from July 31 to Aug. 2. These outages are necessary for repairs and maintenance, temporarily affecting lab equipment and water access.

Multiple scheduled utility outages will affect the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE) at UTSA in the coming months to support necessary repairs and routine maintenance.

A steam outage is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Feb. 19, from midnight through 5 p.m. During this outage, building occupants will be unable to use autoclaves, cage washers and hot water in laboratories. Additionally, the vivarium may experience lower humidity levels if outside air conditions are dry. Heating and cooling in the building will not be affected.

A hot and cold water outage is scheduled from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 23. This outage is necessary for Facilities to conduct routine maintenance. During this time, water will be unavailable throughout the building, including restrooms, labs, breakrooms and all other areas with water access.

A steam outage is scheduled from 2 p.m. Friday, July 31, through 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. During the outage, building occupants will not be able to use autoclaves, cage washers or hot water in laboratories.
