Indian Diagnostics Sector Advances Through Strategic Partnerships in Precision Medicine

Two major partnerships in India's diagnostics sector aim to strengthen precision medicine capabilities. MedGenome acquires majority stake in Medcare Management Services, while SRMIST partners with CORE Diagnostics to train future oncology professionals.

MedGenome recently announced a majority investment in Mumbai-based Medcare Management Services, significantly strengthening the landscape of integrated diagnostics in India. By merging genomics with advanced nuclear medicine, the partnership offers a more holistic approach to complex disease management. The collaboration targets earlier detection and more precise stratification for oncology and cardiology patients, allowing clinicians to access a unified platform that combines molecular imaging with genetic insights.

The integration of PET-CT imaging and genomic testing represents a major shift toward precision medicine. Medcare operates four key centers in Chembur, Goregaon, Andheri, and Navi Mumbai. These facilities provide critical services like mammography, theragnostics, and nuclear scans. MedGenome aims to scale these technology-enabled services across the western region, enabling patients to benefit from more accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment planning.

The investment from Novo Holdings supports the creation of a comprehensive diagnostic ecosystem. This system combines pathology, imaging, and advanced science to bridge existing gaps in healthcare delivery. The partnership leverages Medcare's extensive referral network of over 50 hospitals. MedGenome continues to expand its footprint while improving access to affordable precision healthcare.

In a separate development, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CORE Diagnostics, a global leader in cancer diagnostics and genomic testing. With cancer care increasingly moving towards personalised and precision-based treatment, expertise in genetic diagnostics and next-generation sequencing is becoming indispensable. This partnership is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world oncology practice, providing students with direct exposure to cutting-edge diagnostic technologies, genetic counselling frameworks and industry-led research.

CORE Diagnostics operates across 11 countries and handles nearly 1,000 oncology cases daily. The MoU is expected to significantly enhance student competitiveness in the rapidly evolving healthcare sector. By working alongside industry experts and engaging with advanced genomic technologies, students will graduate not only with academic knowledge but with applied clinical insight. Beyond training, the collaboration also opens avenues for joint research initiatives aimed at advancing cancer diagnostics and improving patient outcomes.
