Illuminate 3.0 convenes oncology leaders in Mumbai to discuss precision oncology and immunotherapy

Illuminate 3.0 brought global and Indian oncology experts to Mumbai for a three-day townhall on precision oncology, immunotherapy, cellular therapies and cancer vaccines. Discussions covered CAR-T cell therapy, multi-cancer early detection and access to novel drugs in India.

Illuminate 3.0, a three-day Oncology Leadership Townhall, convened leading global and Indian experts at the Jio World Convention Centre to discuss advances in precision oncology, diagnostics, immunotherapy, cellular therapies, and emerging cancer vaccines. Hosted by Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and led by the Director – Medical & Precision Oncology, the multidisciplinary symposium brought together clinicians, researchers, and healthcare leaders to exchange evidence-led insights aimed at improving outcomes across cancer specialties.

Discussions across Precision Oncology, Breast Oncology, Paediatric Oncology, and Adult Hemato-Oncology addressed CAR-T cell therapy, advanced immunotherapeutics, multi-cancer early detection, and the evolution of cancer treatment over decades. The forum also focused on the importance of new-age cancer detection methods, what’s next in the role of immunotherapy and precision medicine, and issues with access to having novel drugs in India and how to bridge the gap for seamless approvals.

Opening the event, the organising president and program convenor set the context for collaboration-driven care and underscored the need to break silos and align innovation with real-world patient needs. Keynote sessions featured globally renowned oncologists who shared perspectives on advances in diagnostics, precision medicine, and next-generation therapies.

As part of the inaugural proceedings, veteran filmmaker and cancer survivor Rakesh Roshan attended Illuminate 3.0 and presented awards to oncologists, recognising their contributions to cancer care and service excellence. The first evening also included the presence of actress and cancer advocate Hina Khan, a cultural performance titled Karuna Shakti blending Bharatanatyam and Odissi, and a fireside chat in which preventive testing in breast cancer was emphasised, followed by a ramp walk with breast cancer survivors.

The Group CEO – Healthcare Initiatives and CEO of the hospital said the initiative was envisioned to bring together leading oncology experts from across the globe under one roof to exchange knowledge, deliberate on pressing challenges, and explore the future of cancer care, with a shared goal of strengthening the delivery of advanced treatments and ensuring quality, patient-centric care. The Director of Medical and Precision Oncology said building a robust ecosystem for cancer treatment in India requires collaboration and research-driven innovation, and that the insights shared were highly relevant to India.

Marking a strong opening, Day One of Illuminate 3.0 highlighted how global expertise, multidisciplinary decision-making, and a patient-first approach are shaping the next phase of oncology care in India.
