Geneva's FIF Awards Funding to Six Startups Across Two Rounds
The Fonds pour l'Innovation et le Futur de Genève (FIF) has awarded funding to six Geneva-based startups across two rounds, including Backbone, Crìa Technologies, Scenario X, Flottando, Axy, and Nose Switzerland, supporting innovations in AI, quantum computing, fleet management, and life sciences.
The Fonds pour l’Innovation et le Futur de Genève (FIF) has awarded funding to six Geneva-based startups across two recent funding rounds, supporting technologies ranging from AI marketing platforms to cold chain solutions for life sciences. Backbone received CHF 400,000 in FIF Growth funding for its AI marketing platform serving real estate professionals, while Crìa Technologies was granted CHF 100,000 in FIF Seed Tech funding to advance its portable cold chain device for biological materials. In a separate funding round, three digital startups—Scenario X, Flottando, and Axy—each received CHF 50,000 through the FIF Seed Digital program, and the life sciences initiative Nose Switzerland secured CHF 20,000 under FIF Seed Impact.
Backbone, founded in Geneva, helps real estate professionals market and sell properties faster by automating premium visual content production. The FIF Growth funding will allow Backbone to accelerate its commercial expansion with new hires in Geneva. Crìa Technologies, a Geneva-based startup, has developed the world’s first portable device capable of operating across a temperature range from +8°C to -196°C, using a vacuum thermal insulation system based on technologies from CERN. The team comprises three engineers and a physicist from CERN. The FIF Seed Tech funding will support Crìa Technologies' market launch and targeted R&D hiring.
Scenario X is building a quantum-hybrid decision intelligence platform for financial institutions, integrating AI, advanced optimization, and quantum-enhanced computing to improve risk analysis and capital allocation. Flottando develops AI-powered fleet management software that automates mobility operations, providing real-time analytics and compliance tracking. Axy offers an AI-driven platform that enhances scientific collaboration through personalized content discovery and networking at conferences. Nose Switzerland, developed in collaboration with Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the University of Geneva, addresses chemosensory dysfunction in cancer patients by combining an olfactory profiling kit with a digital application to enable personalized nutrition plans. The funding will support the extension of clinical trials for Nose Switzerland.
The FIF provides financing across three key areas: Tech, Digital, and Impact, with grants up to CHF 50,000, seed funding up to CHF 100,000, and growth funding up to CHF 400,000. The next application deadlines for FIF are March 11 and July 22nd.
