Diabetes Tech Companies Launch Enhanced CGM Systems and Insulin Delivery Platforms
Diabetes technology companies Dexcom, Insulet, and Sequel/Senseonics announced major product launches and algorithm updates. Dexcom is acquiring Nutrisense and launching an enhanced Stelo app, Insulet is rolling out an updated Omnipod 5 algorithm with lower glucose targets and Abbott compatibility, and Sequel/Senseonics have fully launched the Eversense 365 CGM with the twiist insulin delivery system in the U.S.
Multiple diabetes technology companies announced significant product launches, algorithm updates, and compatibility expansions, highlighting ongoing innovation in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and automated insulin delivery systems. At the American Diabetes Association’s Scientific Sessions (ADA 2026) in New Orleans, Dexcom plans to offer select users early access to a reimagined app experience for its Stelo over-the-counter CGM, which received FDA clearance last month. The new app features pattern recognition, proactive AI coaching, and personalized summaries, adding to the system’s enhanced AI meal logging announced earlier this year. Dexcom expects to fully launch the new app experience later this summer and plans to share findings from the CONNECT study evaluating its CGM use in people with type 2 diabetes not on insulin therapy.
Separately, Insulet launched enhanced algorithm updates for its Omnipod 5 automated insulin delivery patch pump. The company won FDA clearance for the enhancements in December 2025, which include a new lower, 100 mg/dL target glucose option and six settings from 100-150 mg/dL for greater personalization. This marks the most significant algorithm advancement since the Omnipod 5 launch in 2022. Insulet began shipping compatible pods to U.S. retail channels ahead of the launch, with users receiving an over-the-air software update. Additionally, Insulet expanded its compatibility with Abbott sensors, adding the option to pair Omnipod 5 with the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor, giving users more sensor choice. The integrated offering is planned for international rollout later this year.
Meanwhile, Sequel and Senseonics announced the full U.S. launch of the Eversense 365 CGM paired with the twiist automated insulin delivery system for people with type 1 diabetes. The companies first integrated their technologies in April 2025, making twiist the first automated insulin delivery system compatible with Eversense 365, the world’s first and only one-year implantable CGM. The twiist system, which also pairs with the Abbott FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor, works with the twiist Loop algorithm powered by Tidepool and directly measures insulin delivery volume using sound waves. It features iiSure technology for accurate delivery and is cleared for ages six and up. Senseonics launched Eversense 365 with its global distribution partner in October 2024 and has since taken over full commercial activity for the system.
Dexcom is also expanding its digital health ecosystem through the acquisition of wellness tracking company Nutrisense for an undisclosed amount, expected to close in the coming weeks. This acquisition will allow Dexcom to incorporate access to registered dietitians, personalized nutrition guidance, and behavior-change support, leveraging Nutrisense’s metabolism-tracking technology and AI capabilities to help users understand the impact of food choices on glucose responses.
