Cue Biopharma appointed Dominic Borie as chief medical officer and R&D head as it advances CUE-221 (Phase 2 data expected Q3 2026) and CUE-401 (Phase 1 start Q4 2026). He brings over 20 years of immunology and clinical development experience. The company recently raised $50M to support clinical development.

Cue Biopharma has appointed Dominic Borie, M.D., Ph.D., as chief medical officer and head of research and development, as the clinical-stage biotechnology company advances multiple programs targeting allergic and autoimmune diseases. The company expects to report Phase 2 data for CUE-221 in chronic spontaneous urticaria by the end of the third quarter of 2026 and remains on track to begin a Phase 1 trial of CUE-401 by the end of the fourth quarter.

Borie will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Shao-Lee Lin and will oversee the company’s research and development organization. He brings more than 20 years of experience leading R&D organizations in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Most recently, he served as strategic advisor to the CEO and board of Kyverna Therapeutics, where he was previously president of R&D and founding CEO. Earlier, he held senior leadership roles at Horizon Therapeutics, Genentech, Amgen and Roche, contributing to immunology therapies from early research through global clinical trials. Before entering industry, he directed the Transplantation Immunology Laboratory at Stanford University and practiced as a transplant surgeon in Paris.

Cue’s pipeline includes CUE-221, a dual-mechanism anti-IgE antibody in Phase 2 development for allergic diseases, and CUE-401, a first-in-class bifunctional IL-2 and TGF-β candidate for autoimmune diseases developed using the company’s Immuno-STAT platform, designed to selectively target disease-specific T cells. The company recently strengthened its balance sheet with a $50 million private placement.

In connection with the appointment, Borie received induce equity awards: a non-qualified stock option to purchase 63,000 shares and 31,500 restricted stock units, both vesting over four years.
