Wegovy is the brand name of semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist used with reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management, cardiovascular risk reduction in adults with established cardiovascular disease and obesity/overweight, and treatment of noncirrhotic MASH with moderate-to-advanced fibrosis under accelerated approval. U.S. initial approval in this label is 2017.
