Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by painful, recurrent nodules, abscesses, sinus tracts, and scarring, typically in intertriginous areas such as axillae and groin. Disease course is relapsing and can cause substantial pain, drainage, and psychosocial burden. Pathogenesis involves follicular occlusion with subsequent inflammation and secondary infection.
