Laughter Yoga, Emotional Labor, and Menopause-Specific Quality of Life in Nurses
NCT07738211 · Status: ACTIVE_NOT_RECRUITING · Phase: NA · Type: INTERVENTIONAL · Enrollment: 120
Last updated 2026-07-31
Summary
This randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate the effects of laughter yoga on emotional labor behavior and menopause-specific quality of life among menopausal nurses. A total of 120 premenopausal and postmenopausal nurses were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n=60) or a control group (n=60). The intervention group participated in eight laughter yoga sessions over four weeks, while the control group received no intervention. Emotional labor behavior and menopause-specific quality of life were assessed at baseline, post-intervention, and follow-up using validated instruments. The primary objective was to determine whether laughter yoga improves emotional labor behavior and menopause-specific quality of life compared with usual practice.

Laughter Yoga
Participants assigned to the intervention group received laughter yoga in groups of 10-12 participants. The intervention consisted of eight sessions conducted over four weeks (two sessions per week), with each session lasting approximately 30-40 minutes. Sessions included warm-up exercises, rhythmic clapping, deep breathing techniques, playful activities, simulated laughter exercises, and laughter meditation, followed by relaxation. All sessions were conducted face-to-face by a certified laughter yoga instructor according to the standard laughter yoga protocol.
