Anterior Raises $40M to Accelerate Health Plan AI; Health Tech Funding Surges

Anterior, a clinician-led artificial intelligence platform for health plans, announced a $40 million funding round on February 12, 2026, bringing total capital raised to $64 million. The oversubscribed round included continued participation from NEA and Sequoia Capital, alongside new investors FPV and Kinnevik.

Anterior helps health insurers deploy AI inside real clinical and operational workflows, pairing advanced technology with embedded clinicians who work alongside health plan staff. Since its $20 million Series A in June 2024, Anterior has expanded production deployments across major U.S. health plans including Geisinger Health Plan, built strategic integrations with HealthEdge and its GuidingCare platform, and currently supports organizations covering 50 million lives. The company reported 99.24% clinical accuracy in live production environments, independently validated by KLAS Research. One enterprise customer reported reducing clinical review cycles by roughly 75% after deployment across hundreds of nurses and driving staff satisfaction above 90%. Anterior also added senior healthcare leaders as advisors, including a former U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, a former executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Blue Shield of California, and a former CEO of Employer and Individual at UnitedHealthcare. The new capital will support expanded production deployments, new clinical and operational use cases, ecosystem integrations, and further acceleration of the company's rapid five-day average deployment model.

In the AI healthcare scale-up space, Bexorg raised a $23 million Series A in October 2025 led by Engine Ventures with participation from Amplify Partners, Starbloom Capital, Connecticut Innovations, and E1 Ventures, bringing total funding to $42.5 million. Bexorg, founded by Yale neuroscientists whose brain research was published in Nature, has built an integrated AI and whole-human brain drug discovery platform and has announced collaborations with Biohaven Ltd., Oxford and the UK Medical Research Council, and QurAlis. Cognixion, a non-invasive brain-computer interface company, closed additional funding rounds in 2025 and early 2026 from investors including Prime Movers Lab, the Amazon Alexa Fund, Northwell Health Ventures, Memorial Hermann Health System Ventures, and the ALS Association's ALS Accel, bringing disclosed total funding to approximately $29 million. Cognixion holds FDA Breakthrough Device Designation for its Axon-R platform and CMS accreditation as a Durable Medical Equipment provider.
