FDA Posts Recalls for Salmonella-Contaminated Eggs and Counterfeit Supplement with Hidden Drug
The FDA has posted recall announcements for two products: Midwest Poultry Services is recalling 1.59 million dozen eggs due to possible Salmonella contamination, and Green Lumber Holding warns that counterfeit dietary supplements contain undeclared tadalafil, which could interact dangerously with certain medications.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has posted company announcements for two recalls: Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is voluntarily recalling 1,589,577 dozen shell eggs due to possible Salmonella Enteritidis contamination, and Green Lumber Holding, LLC has updated its recall of counterfeit dietary supplements containing the undeclared prescription drug tadalafil.
Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. said the recalled white and brown cage free shell eggs were produced on Texas farms between June 6, 2026 and July 3, 2026, with sell by or best by dates from July 20 to August 17, 2026. The eggs were distributed to foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, and were sold at Kroger, Brookshire Grocery, and other outlets. The recall covers cartons bearing plant codes P-1950 or 0840962 and Julian dates 157 through 184. The company is not aware of any illnesses linked to the products. Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and in severe cases can be fatal.
In a separate notice, Green Lumber Holding, LLC issued an updated alert regarding counterfeit products labeled with lot number LOT308EXP03/28. The FDA’s Enforcement Report published on February 9, 2026, references a recall initiated on August 28, 2025, after agency testing detected tadalafil, an ingredient not in genuine Green Lumber products. The company said an employee had diverted packaging and customer information to sell counterfeit goods and has been terminated. The hidden tadalafil poses a risk of life-threatening low blood pressure in people taking nitrates or certain heart medications. Authentic Green Lumber products bear lot numbers LOTGL0130151EXP0926, GL01EXP09/27, or LOT GL110725 EXP110727.
