Tenofovir alafenamide is a nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor prodrug used for chronic hepatitis B treatment, marketed as VEMLIDY in this label. It is converted intracellularly to tenofovir diphosphate, which inhibits HBV reverse transcriptase and causes viral DNA chain termination. U.S. initial approval in this label is 2015.
