Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects used across many disease categories. The RAYOS label includes broad uses spanning allergic, dermatologic, gastrointestinal, hematologic, ophthalmologic, pulmonary, renal, rheumatologic, infectious, endocrine, neoplastic, and transplant-related conditions. U.S. labeling shows initial approval in 1955.
