Minoxidil is a medication used for high blood pressure and hair loss, with oral and topical forms in clinical use. It acts through potassium channel opening and vasodilatory effects, and also promotes hair growth in androgenetic alopecia. Its oral antihypertensive use was introduced in 1979, followed by topical approval for hair loss in 1988.
