Esafoxolaner is an aryl isoxazoline ectoparasiticide component of the veterinary topical combination product NexGard Combo for cats. In that product it is co-formulated with eprinomectin and praziquantel for broad parasite prevention/control indications including fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites. It is used in veterinary medicine under prescription oversight.
The FDA has expanded animal drug options for New World screwworm through conditional approvals and emergency use authorizations. The agency lists products for cattle, dogs and cats and says its guidance page will be updated as more drugs move through the system.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued two Emergency Use Authorizations on February 18, 2026, for NexGard products to treat New World screwworm infestations in dogs and cats.
