Nephrotic syndrome is a kidney disorder characterized by heavy proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, edema, and hyperlipidemia due to glomerular filtration barrier dysfunction.
The FDA granted full approval to Filspari to reduce proteinuria in patients aged eight and older with FSGS without nephrotic syndrome. The decision was based on Phase III DUPLEX data versus irbesartan.
Updated pediatric hypertriglyceridemia guidance says triglyceride thresholds below 400 mg/dL mainly signal ASCVD risk, while levels above about 885 mg/dL raise pancreatitis risk. Lifestyle changes remain first-line treatment, and pediatric-specific evidence for drug therapy is still limited.
