Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome is a glomerular disorder characterized by heavy proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, edema, and hyperlipidemia without an immediately identifiable systemic cause. It is most common in children and often corresponds to minimal change disease, though focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and other lesions also occur. Relapsing disease courses are common.
