Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone, leading to slowed metabolic processes and multisystem symptoms such as fatigue, cold intolerance, weight gain, and cognitive slowing. It can be primary, central, congenital, or acquired. Treatment is typically thyroid hormone replacement.
