HPV infection is infection with human papillomavirus, a common sexually transmitted viral infection. Most infections are asymptomatic and resolve spontaneously, but persistent infection with high-risk HPV types can lead to cancers including cervical, anal, penile, and oropharyngeal cancers. Vaccination significantly reduces infection and related disease risk.
