Gliomas are malignant tumors of glial-cell origin in the brain or spinal cord and include multiple molecular and histologic subtypes. They represent a major proportion of malignant primary brain tumors and vary substantially in aggressiveness and prognosis. Management is multidisciplinary and subtype-specific.
A Nature Communications study reported that STING agonist 8803 inhibited tumor growth in human meningioma samples and reduced tumor volume and mortality in mouse models. Researchers found the STING pathway is expressed in both meningioma tumor cells and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment.
Northwestern Medicine researchers identified a potent immunotherapy approach targeting the STING pathway for meningiomas, the most common primary brain tumor. The experimental drug STING agonist 8803 triggered tumor cell death and immune responses in human samples and mouse models.
Telix Pharmaceuticals submitted a marketing authorization application in Europe for TLX101-Px, a glioma imaging agent, on February 18, 2026. The filing covers major European markets and a U.S. NDA submission will follow.
