Gastric cancer, also known as stomach cancer, is a malignant tumor arising from the lining of the stomach. Most cases are gastric carcinomas, though other histologies can occur. Disease often presents late because early symptoms are nonspecific, contributing to poor outcomes in advanced-stage diagnosis.
