Febrile neutropenia is an oncologic emergency defined by fever in the setting of neutropenia, commonly occurring after myelosuppressive cancer therapy. It is associated with high infection risk, potential bacteremia, and rapid clinical deterioration if not treated promptly. Immediate empiric broad-spectrum antibiotics are standard of care.
