Ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterine cavity, most commonly in the fallopian tube. It is a potentially life-threatening obstetric emergency because rupture can cause severe internal bleeding. Early diagnosis is critical to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
