Dementia is a syndrome caused by multiple diseases and injuries that progressively impair memory, thinking, and the ability to perform daily activities. Alzheimer disease is the most common form, accounting for an estimated 60-70% of cases. Dementia is a major cause of disability and dependency in older adults worldwide.
